We are happy to see children from a very young age, and usually children under 4 will be seen within their parents appointments. We make no charge for this.
Children 4-16 yrs old
At age 4, we do a formal ‘new patient’ examination for children.
and after that they are seen every 4 months.
Children 16-18 yrs old
At age 16 the frequency of visits usually reduces to 6 monthly, until age
18 when they become adults. |

Oral hygiene advice
We will show your child how to maintain good oral hygiene for a lifetime.
Diet advice
We look at foods and drinks, which can cause harm to your childs teeth and promote healthy eating habits.
Fluoride varnish application
This is applied to vulnerable areas to help prevent dental decay in your childs teeth.
Mouthguards
An individually made sports
mouthguard is a vital part of any child’s kit to protect against injury to the teeth.
If a mouthguard is required, we will take a mould and send it off to the lab as part of a routine visit. (one mouthguard per child, per calendar year).
Experiments & activities
We provide fun activities to show the importance of looking after the teeth. The experiments include looking at living dental bacteria under a microscope! |
Checking for dental decay
Early detection of dental decay is vital for
maintaining your childs dental health
Diagnodent Probe
A new ‘high tech’ laser probe used to detect early dental decay in the teeth.
Dental X ray
Low dose digital X rays are taken if needed.
Orthodontic examinations
Detailed examinations are carried out by the dentist which assess the need for orthodontic treatment (braces). Orthodontics straightens the teeth and corrects any irregularities of the teeth and jaw. We will refer your child to a local
specialist for this treatment. |
